Our goal has a familiar ring: 520. That’s Southern Arizona’s area code, and it’s the number of people we hope will give this year. Last year, 385 people did.

Starting Nov. 1, your gift goes further. NewsMatch matches one-time gifts dollar for dollar up to $1,000, and our local challenge adds even more. Start a new monthly gift, or increase the one you have, and NewsMatch matches a full year of the difference. Moving from $10 to $20 a month brings in $120 right away.

Every gift counts toward our goal of 520 donors

Giving more than $1,000? Every dollar counts toward our local challenge, funded by local donors to support Southern Arizona reporting.

Giving from an IRA or donor-advised fund?

Year-end is a great time to give this way, and these gifts count toward our local challenge.

IRA: If you’re 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA through a qualified charitable distribution. It may count toward your required minimum distribution and isn’t counted as taxable income. Ask your IRA custodian to send a check to Arizona Local Post (Arizona Luminaria), P.O. Box 1335, Tucson, AZ 85702. Custodians can take a few weeks, so please start by early December to make the Dec. 31 deadline.

Donor-advised fund: Recommend a grant through DAF Direct or through your fund’s sponsor. Our legla name is Arizona Local Post, doing business as Arizona Luminaria, EIN 87-2217945.

Please let us know when you’ve given so we can count it and thank you: Irene McKisson, imckisson@azluminaria.org.
