The Pima County Public library is shifting how it orders and receives print books after its primary source closed. The closure of book distributor Baker & Taylor means new books  are delayed and has created more for local librarians to do. This closure is a nationwide issue for schools, libraries and bookstores as Baker & Taylor will stop service in January. Pima County staff is redistributing orders and aims to have a contract in place with Ingram Books. Ebooks and audiobooks are supplied by a different vendor and are more accessible, Pima County says, adding it expects to have purchases back on track by February.

Celebrate disability art and activism at Tucson Disability Pride Day on Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Donna Liggins Recreation Center, 2160 N. Sixth Ave. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with performances, wheelchair sports, food and art. 

Do a healing herb walk at Mission Garden on Saturday, Dec. 6. Learn about some of the 50 medicinal plants at the garden on this walk led by herbalist Linda Sherman. The $10 class is from 9-10 a.m. Register here and meet inside the front gate.

The holiday Parade of Lights is Saturday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Gather for the parade that will include brightly-lit floats, folklorico dancing, mariachis, parading dogs and food trucks at Armory Park at 220 S. Sixth Ave.

The Tucson Holiday Ice skating rink is now open after an equipment failure delay. The outdoor rink pop-up will run through Jan. 4 at 260 S. Church in front of the Tucson Convention Center. Cost is $22 for 90 minutes. Children under 12 are $15. Skates are included in admission, socks are required and gloves are recommended. No bags are allowed on the ice. Get tickets here. Tickets for dates impacted by the delay will be refunded. Call 520-791-4101, option one for information.

Honor those affected by TCE water contamination on Tucson’s south side by attending the unveiling and healing ceremony of the new memorial in Mission Manor Park on Dec. 13 from 2 to 5 p.m.
