The Pima County Elections department said on Thursday that it has about 67,000 ballots left to count and expects to finish on Monday, Nov. 9.
The Pima County Recorder is expected to complete signature verification on the remaining early ballots from Election Day and turn them over to the elections department today, Pima County spokesperson Mark Evans told Arizona Luminaria Thursday morning.
The Elections Department is still processing the ballots turned over from the recorder’s office, Evans said, adding the process is tedious and “it takes a while to get enough ballots processed to run them through the machines.”
The recorder also has about 3,700 provisional ballots and will get started on those soon, he said.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors will meet virtually on Nov. 19 to approve the canvass because state law says the board must approve it no sooner than six days after election day and no later than 20, Evans said.
