Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Tucson today to hold a campaign event focused on reproductive freedoms.

Several other state and local leaders will join Harris including U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego, who is running for Arizona’s U.S. Senate seat, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, state Sen. Priya Sundareshan, state Sen. Eva Burch and Tucson Mayor Regina Romero.

The vice president’s speech, which is scheduled to begin around 2:30 p.m., is closed to the public but will be livestreamed across Biden-Harris campaign social channels. The event will also include a discussion between second gentleman Doug Emhoff and “young men allies in the fight for reproductive freedom.”

Reproductive health advocates will also be in attendance, including Mini Timmaraju, president and CEO of Reproductive Freedom for All, and Yesenia Gamez, an attorney and reproductive health advocate, who will introduce Vice President Harris.

Harris’ visit follows an Arizona Supreme Court ruling this week allowing the reinstatement of an 1864-era statute which effectively bans all abortions in the state “unless necessary to save a woman’s life” with no exceptions for rape or incest.
